Conversations had been going for awhile about how much ManRay sucks cuz all they play is the same synthpop crap* and it got me thinking that from now on I won't dance to crappy synthpop just because it's playing and I want to dance to something, I'll make a conscious effort to dance to anything gothy**, just to give DJ Chris some feedback on what I want him to play. So last night I go to ManRay all resolute with my anti-sythpop attitude and what do you know he plays Cranes, Bauhaus, Christian Death and This Mortal Coil*** for gods sake. Power to the people.

So dancing to Bauhaus, the song name I forget, not Spy In The Cab that one's way too slow. It's one he never plays very often, even back when everything was goth. Not In The Flat Field**** , not Terror Couple Kill Colonel. Whatever, I noticed that Bauhaus is often hard to dance to. Whether it's good or not, the blippy boppy techno stuff is just so easy to groove into, I've gotten lazy about paying attention to the song, I've gotten used to having the beats served up on silver platter, almost forgotten what it's like to try to tune my ear to beats obscured by complex melody and real stringed instruments. It's not always easy. But it's more interesting that that Apop crap.

*Of course not all synthpop is crap, but even the best synthpop (or the best anything) is crappy if you hear the same song every night
**Except that Creatures song. I hate that Creatures song so much. Whatever it is. Probably all of them.
***Drugs, which is not my favorite song but it gets played less than Sixteen Days so I was happy, tho not as happy as if he'd played Alone.
****Walking by a coworkers cubicle the other day I overheard him giving instructions to someone on the phone about data storage retrieval and when he said "now hit the eject and get me the tape" I almost spit up my coffee.
