Did the Dance Across The City thing with Couplingchaos and Rishikanta and Nepenthe and Annabelle, my god waking up at 7:00AM on a Saturday morning is so wrong it's just funny. But it was a great fun day, I started with Country Line Dancing and it's totally fun! I've always been fascinated by the spectacle of group dances, be it the Hustle or Electric Slide or Macarena or Texas Two-Step; no matter what your taste in music or dance, you have to admit that seeing fifty people do the same dance steps in unison is prety impressive. And a really neat thing the instructors were saying is that most country line dancing, professional and recreational, is done to pop music, and a lot to hip hop too. Which makes a lot of sense because dance is about movement, and pop and hip hop are almost always engineered to encourage movement. It was neat to realize my own prejudices about country line dancing just but a bunch of shit-kickers dancing to nothing but country music. They started us with a Fergie song, then another one they taught us to a Justin Timberlake song and I was feeling pretty good about myself but then they laid on an intermediate-level dance to Shakira and that shit is hard. Holy crap I had no idea which way I was supposed to be turning, shuffling, kicking or stomping, it was totally embarrassing. And a total blast.

Did a Salsa class too and that was way fun, felt a little more intuitive than the Lin Dancing. And for a little while I got partnered to this wicked cute little Hispanic girl who had the deepest darkest most liquid eyes you ever did see. And of course she was really good at the salsadancing so I felt extra embarrassed for my clumsiness but whatever. After that went to a Contemporary Ballet thing, but there were so many people there I couldn't see or hear the instructor so we bailed halfway. We'd signed up for a Flamenco class but it was 5:00 by than and I was pretty much done. But way happy with everything, and now I know what it's like to be onstage at the Wang and Schubert theatres. Heh. The Wang. I love that.

Made steaky dinner and watched the D.O.A. movie and, for all the eye-rolling and oh-god-that's-gonna-suck response that any sane human being would have at a movie based on thatvideogame, it's actually a totally enjoyable movie. I'm not kidding, this movie is a really good time, at no point was I bored or annoyed or incredulous; the fight scenes were cute and inventive, the babes were babelicious, the dialogue was comic book but snappy clever at the same time. I wholeheartedly endorse this movie. Was bugging me the whole movie how I knew I'd seen the main character ninja-chick before, IMDB'd her and it's Miho from Sin City! Good to cast her as Miho the assassin who never speaks, cuz that girl cannot act to save her life. Yeesh.
