Last Weekend
Aug. 6th, 2007 12:07 pmOk, what the hell I been doing the past few weeks? Hmm. Friday last was Pat_Man_Ta's birthday was way fun, filled with neato people and great time. Saturrday afternoon a BBQ at Cheryl's house, she's old-school ManRay friend who moved away like eight years ago and now come back, she does things with pitbull rescue league and owns two herself, a 9-year old and 8-month old. Never met a pitbull up close and personal, they're nifty beasts, three foot high and sixty pounds of muscle. At one point the young one got hold of a BBQ rib bone and this guy who was obviously another pitbull enthusiast instantly sprang into action, he grabbed the dog's jaw in one hand and shoved his other hand all the way down the dog's throat and wrestled the bone away. It was pretty thrilling, I must say that shoving your hand down a pitbull's throat is one of the most, uh, counterintuitive things I've ever imagined. Wow.
After the cookout went to Lepidosiren's and Harlan's party, more big fun great people, and the craziest thing was I'm walking through to the kitchen pardon-me-scuse-me-ing around poeple and this girl turns around and it's Sharon, who I met back in March at Armandae's dessert party! We hung out a few times in between her taking off to Maryland for some kinda meditation retreat (which she left early from, sure it had somthing to do with rabble rousing or other incitements to riot) and going on a bus trip across the country (which went longer than she'd planned, probably involved a senator's wife, or absconding with the church funds. I like to think she killed a man. It's the romantic in me.) but anyhow I was totally not expecting to see her at this party and there she was! I love surprises. On Sunday we went to the DeCordova Museum which is in it's last couple weeks of the Annual Exhibit, some really great stuff like moving observer-propelled metal sculptures, a room of bunny-worms and sodmonsters from the mind of this artist whose work Julishka and I saw at South End Open Studios a few years back, and SPUDNIK by one of the dudes in Kaiju, a multimedia presentation exhibit based on entirely a stupid pun. It's so great.
