Shootin’ the shit with one of the techs on the production floor, I notice on his laptop is a website that shows Red states and Blue states, looks like the Democrats are ahead in the electoral vote prediction so I go “Woohoo! Obama all the way!” and my coworker growls “Phft. Obama. He’s a muslim faggot.” I was struck dumb by the sheer incandescent ignorance of the statement, if I were quicker on the uptake I would have replied “Hey, don’t forget: he’s also a nigger.”

It’s interesting to be reminded of the wide variation in background and attitude of the citizens of this great nation - no matter how uninformed you are, no matter how much you think Iraq had something to do with 9/11, no matter how much you think the Republicans will cut your taxes while the Democrats with raise them, no matter how much you think humans existed at the same time as the dinosaurs, no matter how many things you believe are clearly and demonstrably false – you still get a vote.
