Why can’t we not be sober, indeed.

Next week Tuesday and Wednesday June 16th and 17th, from 4:30 to 7:30pm, Maynard from Tool is going to be at the River Street Whole Foods in Cambridge to promote his new wine. That’s just really weird. See I always thought of Tool as the band with no sense of humor whatsoever - Tool, A Perfect Circle, Puscifer, it’s all supposed to be a dark seething mass of frustration, disgust and self-loathing, right? To think of Maynard shilling his cabernet at Whole Foods is just…weird. Which is so great, you better believe I’m gonna be there. No sense of humor? Shows how much I know - Wikipedia sez Maynard used to do stand-up comedy in LA before forming Tool. Holy shit that’s awesome.

One of my favorite things in the world is when I find out my past beliefs and impressions about something are utterly wrong. I dunno why, but it’s so fun when my worldview drastically reorients itself based on new data. It feels like I’ve made a tiny evolutionary leap, corrected a flaw in my reality. And it’s essentially funny to find out you’ve been full of crap all this time, I love it.
