Ninja Assassin

Couplingchaos and I saw Ninja Assassin last week, it was ok. Everybody excited about that Korean dude Rain and yup it had a decent amount of hot Asian beefcake (uh…ricecake?). If you’re into that sort of thing. But previews and behind-the-scenes webstuff had fight scenes that were way more exciting than what was actually in the film. The movie fights were shadowed and edited and stylized into obscurity. Dude, this is the Wachowski brothers, what happened to those guys?! What happened to the well-lit full-body shots, the extended fight choreography in real time? The fights in the Matrix and Matrix Reloaded should be textbook on how to do cinema combat that does not get old after repeated viewing. Oh well. Hope their next movie has better fightingness.
