Yow. Hectic crazy weekend. The Last Fetish Night at ManRay was quite fantastico, hot and sweaty and delicious fun, everyone was having a most fabulous time feeling like the silly freaky family we are in the best of times. Would have loved to have gone to LaBelleMargeaux’s afterparty but I needed to be up and about early Saturday morning to run lots of errands, batten down the hatches for the afterparty I was having for the Seriously The Last Night Ever At ManRay on Saturday, and meeting Couplingchaos in the early eve to see the penguin movie, which was pretty awesome and I think confirms my theory that penguins are the cutest species on the planet, cute in every stage of development, cute as a society, even cute as lunch in the jaws of a elephant seal. After movie we get ice cream and then I go home to finish partyprep and start getting dressed for club and Darla comes over freshly crispyburnt from the blazing sun over some paradisiacal atoll in the middle of the Atlantic. She’s brought me a small green glass frog. I love presents! Especially trinkets of exotic tropicalia, for they tend to come with all sorts of interesting native curses attached, I expect to find my home taken over by vengeful pygmies. I will call them George. Later on the truly Last Ever Night Of ManRay is ok, not as enjoyable as Friday because the music isn’t as good and the people aren’t as interesting, we stick it out till a bit past midnight then flee home and start drinking in earnest. Sometime after 2:00 people start showing up and the house fills up and I make bacon treats and breakfast sandwiches and the sun comes up and last peoples leave round 7:00ish I think. Crash squish into bed. Darla and I get up and make it to Escarey’s brunchy cookout, bloody marys and delicious foods, and I fry up a boston crème donut one the grill. We go and run a couple errandy things and then to Harvard Square to see this play Frogz which is quite awesome, it’s indeed a bit like Blue Man Group for the humor and the wordlessness but with dancers in creature costume. Monday morning I drop Darla off at the T station for she must go play Jet Set Radio Astronomer in the Tucson AZ.

So here I am. Had drinks last night with Sirendipity, talking about fireworks and getting to be cyberpneumatic international fetish stars. I seriously have not the oomph to make it out to Ceremony, I’m strung out so thin I feel transparent. Home to bed and one chapter of Assassin’s Apprentice (borrowed from Norm, it’s getting really really good, a richly imagined medieval fantasy world, perhaps not quite as expansive as Guy Gavriel Kay or George R.R. Martin but totally worth the read) and sleep jumps on me like a smothering mama penguin. I’m thrown awake by the rolling crashing thunder and I love it, I spend the next hour half awake half asleep feeling my neurons buffeted by shifting electromagnetism as the local atmosphere ionizes and breaks down with the sound like when God snaps His fingers.
