The crazy crazy double 30th Birthday Party for LaBelleMargaux and Spitcurl went off well, the performers were great, Arcanus and Cris spun great music fer dancing, people brought delicious food and Julishka brought oh so lovely flowers! The venue owners were gracious and cleanup and takedown took hardly any time at all cuz so many people came early and stayed late to help out. I was happy to do what I could with organizing but man it’s exhausting. How Shaun Kelly handles the B&D Ball every year, god I don’t know how he does it. But the important thing is we had a great celebration for two of the greatest women with whom it has ever been my privilege to know. Rock on, you guys.
Speaking of The Ball, Sunday I got measured for what will hopefully be some spiffy latex pants from Vex clothing; I love Vex, got a latex top from them a year ago, gunmetal with black tribal appliqués across the back, I love it. The pants will be trimmed bronze, we’re trying to work a Steampunk look, which will be fun and interesting; enough of all this cyber silverblack shineygloss, see what we can do with leatherhide and bronze, wood and brass and copper.
Ceremony was great fun, Cris and Brigid spun Singularity which I love love love because I can count on lots of stuff I’ve never heard before, with rhythm wet and compelling. I’ve sworn myself to get out dancing at least once a week, because my groove feels distressingly clunky and unfacile from not going out with boogie at all for a couple months, and if I’m going to be dancing for that thar B&D Ball I really need to get into shape.
Last night Couplingchaos and I got to the climbing and did some good stuff before it got way crowded at the gym. I could have done one more route but we bailed for the ropes getting all swamped, I did a little bouldering while Couplingchaos got dressed and called in our sushi order which we picked up on the way home, upon which we dined while parked in front of six episodes of Sex & The City. And this Trader Joe’s junmai ginjo sake, it’s totally good, the best $10 bottle of sake I’ve ever had. Real smooth and tasty with none of the harshness that most cheap sake has, it’s medium not-dry not-sweet, with a real distinctive flavor. Go out and get some now. Now, I say!
